UK policy
The NHF was established in 1984 to ensure that the prevention of CHD became a national priority throughout the UK and the European Union.
Over the last 22 years UK governments have adopted CHD prevention as a health priority which is now firmly established on the Department of Health and NHS priorities agenda.
More recently, with the publication of the latest public health white paper, Choosing Health, action on the CHD risk factors and their determinants is now being taken across government departments and at EU level.
